Pedestrian dead after hit and run in Truro early Friday morning

A 40-year-old pedestrian is dead after being struck by a car in a hit and run early Friday morning in Truro, N.S.

In a news release, Truro police said the man was hit at 1:18 a.m. at the intersection of King Street and Duke Street.

Police Chief Dave MacNeil said the vehicle involved, a black 2014 Hyundai Elantra, was found by officers shortly after the collision.

As of 3 p.m. Friday, the driver of the vehicle had not been identified, MacNeil said. 

The car had significant front-end damage, the release said. MacNeil said the vehicle has been seized and is being processed for evidence.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of the family, according to the release.
