Angus L. Macdonald Bridge to be closed next 2 weekends

The Angus L. Macdonald Bridge in Halifax will be closed for the next two weekends in order to remove its toll plaza. The closure began on Friday, March 14 at 7 p.m. and is expected to reopen on Monday, March 17 at 5:30 a.m. The bridge will close again on Friday, March 21 at 7 p.m. and reopen on Monday, March 24 at 5:30 a.m.
During the closure, pedestrians and cyclists will share the pedestrian lane, which may cause some delays. Once the Macdonald Bridge reopens on March 17, there will be new lane configurations in place. Traffic will be directed to the right outside lanes on the A. Murray MacKay Bridge in both directions starting Monday, March 17 as work commences to remove the toll plaza.
Additionally, the Princess Margaret Boulevard on-ramp to the MacKay Bridge will be closing on Sunday, March 16 at 6 p.m. for approximately six weeks. While specific bridge closure dates have not been finalized, drivers are advised to expect additional workers and equipment on the bridge during this time.
Halifax Harbour Bridges has provided images of the expected traffic flow on both bridges once the toll plaza is removed. These changes are part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic flow and infrastructure in the Halifax area.
