Pedestrian dies after collision with bus on Spring Garden Road

A 24-year-old woman has died following a collision with a Halifax Transit bus in the south end of the city Thursday morning. It’s the second serious crash in 24 hours on the same block.

A 24-year-old woman has died following a collision with a Halifax Transit bus in the south end of the city Thursday morning.

Police said in a statement they were called to the corner of South Park Street and Spring Garden Road at 6:50 a.m. They found that the woman, a pedestrian, had been struck by the bus.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The area was closed to all traffic but has since reopened.

It was the second serious accident in 24 hours on the same block of Spring Garden Road.

A 23-year-old cyclist was hospitalized with what police said could be life-threatening injuries after colliding with an open door of a parked vehicle on Wednesday afternoon.
