Police identify victims of Carry the Kettle quadruple homicide

Saskatchewan RCMP Release Identities of Victims in Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation Homicide

Saskatchewan RCMP have identified the four individuals who tragically lost their lives in a homicide on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation last week. The victims were Tracey Hotomani, 34, and Terry Jack, 51, from Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation, Shauna Fay, 47, from Indian Head, and Sheldon Quewezance, 44, from Zagime Anishinabek.

The incident was reported to RCMP at 11:15 a.m. CT on Feb. 4, with officers discovering the four deceased individuals in a residence on the reserve, located approximately 80 kilometers east of Regina. The RCMP confirmed that the victims had sustained injuries from a firearm.

In a news release, RCMP stated that the victims’ identities were being disclosed to aid in the ongoing investigation. The families of the victims consented to the release of their names and photographs.

Following the homicide, there were reports of a man brandishing a firearm in the neighboring community of Zagime Anishinabek. Keagan Panipekeesick, 29, was apprehended by the Regina Police Service that same evening.

As of the latest update on Tuesday, no arrests have been made in connection to the deaths of the four victims. The investigation into the gun incident in Zagime Anishinabek is still underway.

Insp. Ashley St. Germaine, a senior investigative officer with the major crimes unit, emphasized the meticulous nature of the investigation in piecing together the events surrounding the tragedy. Specific details are being withheld to safeguard the integrity of the inquiry.

The RCMP’s investigation includes interviewing residents in the Carry the Kettle neighborhood and engaging with individuals who may possess pertinent information.
