Police in Maryland say a suspect is dead following a stabbing and fire on Easter

An officer-involved shooting occurred on Easter Sunday at National Harbor, Maryland. According to police reports, officers responded to a stabbing call around 8:20 a.m. where they found a man and a woman with critical stab wounds. Chief Malik Aziz of the Prince George’s County Police Department stated during a media briefing that the suspect, who was known to the victims, set fire to the apartment before fleeing the scene.
Less than two hours later, officers located the suspect at St. George Blvd and Potomac Passage in National Harbor. The suspect was armed with a knife and moved towards an officer. Two officers discharged their weapons, striking the suspect multiple times. The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital and succumbed to his injuries. Fortunately, no officers were harmed during the incident.
The victims of the stabbing are currently in critical but stable condition. The authorities have not disclosed the identities of the victims or the suspect, nor have they confirmed their relationship.
The Maryland Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division has taken over the investigation of the incident.
