Police looking for attempted murder suspect in Toronto Transit stabbing

Toronto police are asking the public for help in identifying and locating a man wanted in an attempted murder investigation after a stabbing occurred on a moving subway in Toronto on Thursday afternoon.

Chaos erupted on the train as passengers fled a violent altercation that left one man stabbed.

A video of the altercation between two male passengers has been posted online. In the footage, a man appeared to abruptly land a punch at the opposing side, and the two then exchanged punches and kicks. The other party suddenly brandished a knife. Seeing this, the first man turned from the fight and ran through the train compartments, screaming for help. The other man ran right behind him.

Other passengers quickly retreated in the opposite direction, seeking safety, and one woman was heard saying in the video, “He stabs him” and “He kills him.” Traces of blood could be seen all over the floor of the train.

The attacker reportedly got off the train at Eglinton Station after it came to a stop and fled.

The incident occurred at 12:23 a.m. near Eglinton Station, according to the The Toronto Police Department. On arrival at the scene, police said they found a man with injuries and he had been taken to a hospital. According to the police, the victim, in his thirties, is in life-threatening condition.

The suspect, who is still at large, is described as a black male, who is between 25 and 30 years old, 5ft 7in tall, with a shaved head, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and carrying a green backpack. Toronto police said in a rack.

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) has temporarily closed subway line 1 between Lawrence Station and Davisville Station. Regular train services largely along line 1 resumed at about 6:30pm, although there are currently trains do not stop at Eglinton Station, where the police investigation is still ongoing, TTC announced on social media.

Stuart Green, spokesman for the TTC, expressed concern over the incident, saying acts of violence on TTC property are unacceptable, and stressed the importance of customer and employee safety, according to CBC News.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to call police.
