RCMP Investigating Fatal Crash Involving Vehicle Subject to Impaired Driving Report
According to RCMP, a tragic accident on Saturday night resulted in the death of five individuals after a collision between a Honda Civic and a Nissan Sentra on Highway 101 in Nova Scotia. The incident occurred around 11:12 p.m. AT, approximately 1.5 kilometres from Exit 7, between Hantsport and Falmouth.
Authorities have revealed that the Honda Civic was traveling in the wrong direction in the eastbound lanes of the twinned section of the highway at the time of the crash. It was later disclosed that earlier that evening, at 7:20 p.m., Kings District RCMP had received a report of a possible impaired driver involving the same Honda Civic.
Despite an extensive search effort by multiple officers in Kings and West Hants counties, the vehicle was not located after it was last seen at a restaurant on Highway 1 near the 11600 block in Grand Pré. The car in question is a blue 2014 Honda Civic with the licence plate HLF590.
Authorities are now seeking assistance from the public in identifying the whereabouts of the vehicle prior to 7:20 p.m. and before the tragic collision took place. Individuals with any information regarding the car or possessing dashcam footage of the area before the crash are urged to contact West Hants District RCMP at 902-798-2207 or report to Crime Stoppers.
