RCMP divers find body of missing Cumberland County boater, 64

TIDNISH, N.S. — RCMP have recovered the body of a missing boater in Cumberland County.

Cumberland RCMP responded Sunday at about 10:45 a.m. to a report of an overdue boater in Northport. A 64-year-old man had gone boating on the Tidnish River on Saturday and had not returned home.

A multi-agency search for the man, led by Cumberland RCMP, was launched and involved the Mounties’ dive team and air services, multiple fire departments, ground search-and-rescue teams and the Joint Rescue Co-Ordination Centre.

The man was located deceased Monday by RCMP divers.

“Our thoughts are with the man’s family, friends and his community at this difficult time,” police said in a news release Monday night.
