RCMP says several people suffered life-threatening injuries following a crash on Highway 93

RADIUM HOT SPRINGS, BC — Police say a serious head-on collision closed Highway 93 north of Radium Hot Springs, BC, not far from the Alberta border.

Banff RCMP says it is assisting Columbia Valley Mounties after the two-vehicle crash, which left several passengers with life-threatening injuries.

Police say motorists should avoid the area and take another route until emergency services clear the crime scene.

Columbia Valley RCMP says crews were dispatched to the Kootenay National Park crime scene around 2:30 p.m. this afternoon.

Police say the highway will be closed for a while until more detectives arrive on the scene, and they have not specified the number of people injured or the nature of their injuries.

Police say traffic from Highway 1 is not allowed to enter Highway 93 until the accident scene is cleared.
