Santa’s reindeer all-clear to fly Christmas Eve
The team at Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) in Prince Edward Island has given the green light for Santa’s reindeer to embark on their annual Christmas Eve journey around the world. After undergoing comprehensive health checks, all nine reindeer have been deemed to be in excellent physical condition and ready to lead Kris Kringle’s sleigh.
Dr. Dominique Griffon, dean of the Atlantic Veterinary College, expressed the team’s excitement in contributing to this magical tradition. She emphasized the importance of ensuring the reindeer are in peak health, considering the extensive distance they cover in just one night.
Over the weekend, the AVC’s Large Animal Medicine Service conducted thorough examinations of the reindeer’s cardiovascular systems, respiratory function, and muscle strength. The results indicated that every reindeer is in top shape and well-prepared for the demanding journey ahead.
Special attention was given to Rudolph to ensure that his unique nose was fully functional, providing crucial illumination for Santa’s navigation during the night. Additionally, the team ensured that all reindeer were up to date on their vaccines to protect against seasonal illnesses.
Following the health checks, the reindeer received grooming and had their antlers and hooves polished in preparation for their Christmas Eve flight. The AVC highlighted that the reindeer are not only ready to fly but are also in prime condition to spread joy to children worldwide.
As stated in the news release from AVC, the reindeer are now fully prepared to take off on December 24 and deliver gifts and holiday magic to households across the globe.
