Former transgenders, parents demand end to ‘butchery’ of children through sex change surgeries

Former transgenders, parents, and activists gathered outside the U.S. Supreme Court in freezing temperatures to advocate for an end to child sex-change surgeries and treatments. The rally coincided with the court’s hearing of oral arguments in U.S. v. Skrmetti, a case challenging Tennessee’s ban on puberty blockers and transgender surgeries for minors.

One of the speakers at the rally, Matt Walsh, a podcast host and creator of the documentary “What Is a Woman,” emphasized the importance of protecting children from the dangers of the transgender agenda. He stated that getting this case right could potentially lead to the demise of the gender ideology industry.

The rally, organized by various groups including Do No Harm, the Heritage Foundation, Catholic Vote, and the LGB Alliance, drew attention to the negative consequences of gender treatments. Glenna Goldis, a member of the LGB Alliance, highlighted how many lesbian, gay, and bisexual individuals view these treatments as a form of conversion therapy.

Former transgender individuals, known as detransitioners, shared their stories of regret and trauma caused by sex-altering procedures. Laura Becker, a detransitioner, spoke out against the irreversible harm she experienced from undergoing testosterone treatment and mastectomy at a young age. She stressed the importance of healing trauma rather than resorting to permanent medical interventions.

Claire A., another detransitioner, echoed Becker’s sentiments, revealing the lasting physical and emotional pain she continues to endure post-transition. She emphasized the need to prevent more children from suffering similar consequences.

Parents of transgender children also shared their heart-wrenching stories of being denied custody and access to their children due to their refusal to affirm their child’s transgender identity. Adam Vena and Harrison Tinsley both detailed their struggles with losing custody of their sons because they did not support their transition.

As the Supreme Court deliberates on the constitutionality of transgender treatments for minors, the voices of former transgenders, parents, and activists serve as a powerful reminder of the potential harm these procedures can inflict on vulnerable individuals. The hope is that through advocacy and legal action, the practice of child sex-change surgeries and treatments will be halted to protect the well-being of children.
