School bus crashes in Middle Sackville, no students on board
A school bus in Middle Sackville, N.S., crashed into several parked vehicles and a house on Tuesday afternoon after the driver experienced a medical emergency. The incident, which occurred on Executive Drive around 1:40 p.m., did not involve any students on board, according to Cpl. Guillaume Tremblay.
The male bus driver was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, although there was no immediate information available about his condition. Witnesses at the scene, including Terry Biles who resides near the impacted home, sprang into action. Biles recounted how he and another individual extracted the driver from the bus and recognized symptoms indicative of a heart attack. They immediately administered CPR until paramedics arrived on the scene.
The collision resulted in damage to multiple vehicles and the house adjacent to the crash site. Biles, a veteran, credited his “operational mindset” for guiding his response to the emergency.
Cpl. Tremblay was unable to disclose which school the bus served or the name of the company the driver was employed by. He confirmed that up to four vehicles were affected by the crash, with no additional injuries reported.
An image captured the aftermath of the incident, showing the destruction caused to the house and vehicles involved in the collision. The community of Middle Sackville was left shaken by the event, but grateful that no students were present during the crash.
As investigations into the cause of the accident continue, residents and authorities are reminded of the importance of remaining vigilant and prepared for emergencies on the road. The swift response of individuals like Terry Biles serves as a reminder of the crucial role bystanders can play in assisting during unexpected crises.
