School to increase security about safety problems

New safety measures are “urgently” needed to keep people from a school in Halifax, an inspection for health and safety has established.
New screens, gates, CCTV and lighting have been proposed to protect the Crossley Heath School from Grade II, in Skircoat Moor Road.
Incidents at the school include groups of “Hoodchon youth” scaling school walls, intoxicated men who are found in school sites and unknown vehicles that are driven on and next to the site.
According to planning documents, a public consultation of three weeks on the proposed safety measures will start on 21 August.
Plans also include the installation of automated vehicle and pedestrian ports with integrated CCTV intercom access linked to the reception of the school.
The measures are needed to help “unwanted persons” not only in school hours, including nights and during the weekend, according to the aforementioned building voting application submitted to the Caldale Council.
A supporting report by planning consultants E3 Cube Ltd -States Lage Hekwerk is planned on top of the border walls of the school, with a 10FT (3 m) High “Weldmesh” fence mounted on other walled sections of the school.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the report proposes new lighting to improve safety, with 30 bollard lights placed along the length of the main path.
CCTV cameras would also be placed at different locations, some mounted on mounting posts in heritage style.
The report of the consultants said that the proposed works “were urgently needed to solve safety problems, emphasizes both the health and safety auditor and then from a detailed study”.
Support for paper argued that the outlined plans “would protect the historic building in the future”.
Crossley Heath School was founded in 1864 as the orphanage Crossley and Porter and is currently a foundation school.
