Scott demands Biden regulators cut duties to allow Trump ‘new era’ of government
Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., is calling on regulators under President Biden to halt their activities in order to provide President-elect Trump with a “fresh slate” when he takes office in January. In a letter to Biden, Scott emphasized that Americans nationwide rejected the previous administration’s economic agenda and voted for a new era of government.
“With this mandate in mind, it is crucial for you and your administration to support President Trump in implementing the agenda that the American people have chosen by allowing him to start his term on January 20th with a clean slate,” Scott wrote.
As the ranking member of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, Scott urged federal financial and housing regulators to suspend all rulemaking and nomination activities. He also called for the preservation of all agency documents, records, and communications in compliance with federal record retention laws. Additionally, Scott demanded the withdrawal of all pending nominations within the committee’s jurisdiction.
“I will not support or advance any nominees proposed by your administration in front of the Committee. In the next Congress, I am eager to confirm President Trump’s nominees who will promote economic opportunities for all Americans,” Scott stated.
In his letter, Scott copied Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. Along with focusing on the transition to the Trump administration, Scott, who was recently elected as the chair of the Senate Republican campaign committee, is also committed to increasing the GOP majority in the 2026 elections.
After being chosen to lead the National Republican Senatorial Committee, Scott expressed his determination to ensure that President Trump has a four-year term with a Republican majority in the Senate. He emphasized the importance of defending current seats and expanding the map to strengthen the majority secured by the recent election victory.
Following the GOP’s success in regaining control of the Senate, pending a recount in Pennsylvania, where GOP challenger Dave McCormick holds a lead over Democratic Sen. Bob Casey, Republicans are expected to have a 53-47 majority in the Senate in January.
In conclusion, Sen. Tim Scott’s efforts to support President Trump’s transition and increase the GOP majority reflect his commitment to advancing the interests of the American people. His dedication to promoting economic opportunities and defending Republican seats underscores his leadership in shaping the future of government policies.
