Scottie Scheffler to miss tournament due to Christmas injury

Scottie Scheffler to Miss The Sentry Tournament Due to Injury
NEW YORK –
Scottie Scheffler, the world number one golfer, will unfortunately have to sit out The Sentry tournament next month after sustaining an unexpected injury to his right hand while preparing Christmas dinner. The PGA Tour announced on Friday that Scheffler had to undergo surgery for a puncture wound on his hand.
The injury is expected to keep Scheffler out of action for several weeks, causing him to miss the opening of the 2025 season at the Plantation Course at Kapalua in Maui, Hawaii.
According to Scheffler’s manager, Blake Smith, the incident occurred on Christmas Day when Scheffler accidentally punctured his palm with a broken glass while cooking. The surgery was necessary to remove small glass fragments from his hand, and he is projected to make a full recovery in three to four weeks.
This setback comes as a disappointment for Scheffler, who had an outstanding 2024 season. He maintained his world number one ranking throughout the year, was named PGA Tour Player of the Year for the third consecutive time, and achieved significant victories such as the Olympic gold medal, the Players Championship, and a second Masters title. He also clinched the season-long FedExCup title to cap off his successful year.
We wish Scottie Scheffler a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back on the course soon.
