Site selected for new school in Reserve Mines

The province of Nova Scotia has announced plans to replace the Tompkins Memorial Elementary School in Reserve Mines, located in Cape Breton Regional Municipality. The new school will be built on a site behind the existing school and will have the capacity to accommodate 240 students.

According to a news release from the provincial government, the site for the new school was carefully chosen after evaluations of various land options and feedback from the community. The departments of Public Works and Early Childhood Development were involved in the selection process.

Public Works Minister Fred Tilley stated in the release that the design process for the new school will commence during the summer months. Parents, community members, and school staff will have the opportunity to provide input and be involved in the design of the new facility.

While no specific completion date has been provided, the announcement of the new school signifies a significant investment in education infrastructure in the region. The replacement of Tompkins Memorial Elementary School demonstrates the government’s commitment to providing a modern and safe learning environment for students in Reserve Mines.

As the project progresses, updates will likely be shared with the public to keep stakeholders informed about the construction timeline and any additional details. The new school represents a positive development for the community and a step towards enhancing educational opportunities for students in the area.
