Israeli military experts weigh in on Trump’s ‘all hell’ threat to Hamas and what it could look like

TEL AVIV, Israel — With the first phase of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement on the brink of completion, Israel is carefully considering its next steps in light of President Donald Trump’s stern warnings to unleash “hell” if all hostages are not released. Experts in the Israeli military provided insight to Fox News Digital on what actions may be taken should the ceasefire deal collapse.

Former Israeli National Security Council chief, Maj. Gen. Yaakov Amidror (res.), emphasized that the only alternative to the ceasefire is a full-scale war in Gaza, with significant military forces mobilized to end Hamas. He noted that Hamas has refrained from breaking the truce thus far because they understand the consequences of a large-scale conflict.

During a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed the shared strategy between Israel and the United States, hinting at the possibility of escalating hostilities if all hostages are not returned. Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus (ret.) suggested that a potential resumption of fighting in Gaza could involve higher intensity and fewer restrictions, aiming to defeat Hamas and gain control over the territory.

Former IDF military intelligence chief Amos Yadlin raised concerns about the ongoing provision of humanitarian aid to Gaza, which he believes sustains Hamas. He highlighted the recent U.S. shipment of munitions to Israel as a sign of strong support for potential military actions.

The IDF has reportedly increased troop reinforcements and mobilized reservists in preparation for various scenarios. While the exact extent of Hamas’s remaining weapons stockpile remains undisclosed, experts estimate a significant reduction in their missile capabilities.

In light of Trump’s statements and actions, Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Giora Eiland suggested that interrupting the flow of essential supplies into Gaza could pressure Hamas to comply with demands. This strategy, he argued, could be more effective than military operations alone.

Brig. Gen. Yossi Kuperwasser (res.) proposed a shift in Israel’s fighting strategy, advocating for a long-term presence in Gaza to prevent Hamas from regrouping. This approach aligns with Trump’s vision to transform Gaza into a prosperous region, supported by ongoing Israeli military control.

Overall, experts emphasize the need for decisive action to ensure the collapse of Hamas rule, demilitarization of Gaza, and enhanced security for Israeli citizens. Prime Minister Netanyahu’s upcoming Security Cabinet meeting will likely address phase 2 of the ceasefire agreement, setting the stage for potential future military operations.
