Stepdad of missing N.S. kids says he hopes ‘something positive’ will come from renewed search

The search for missing siblings Lilly and Jack Sullivan in rural Pictou County, N.S., has resumed with renewed hope and determination. Their stepfather, Daniel Martell, expressed gratitude for the ground search and rescue teams who are tirelessly combing through dense forests and enduring challenging conditions in the hopes of bringing the children back home.
The siblings went missing from their home in Lansdowne Station on May 2, prompting an extensive search effort by the RCMP. After days of searching without success, the search was scaled back on May 7, leaving the family and community devastated. However, the ground search operation resumed on Saturday with over 100 volunteers from five different search and rescue teams coming together to continue the search.
Martell expressed the toll that online speculation has taken on his family, emphasizing the importance of finding the truth and bringing the children home. Despite the challenges, he remains hopeful and has even volunteered to take a polygraph test to dispel any rumors or doubts surrounding the case.
The community has rallied around the family, providing unwavering support and hope during this difficult time. Amy Hansen, one of the search managers, highlighted the determination of the search teams to cover more ground and explore new areas in their quest to find Lilly and Jack. Drones are being utilized to aid in the search efforts, allowing for a more thorough and efficient search of the wooded areas where the children may have wandered.
Previous search efforts were halted due to exhaustion and injuries among the search teams, but they are now rested and ready to push themselves to the limit to find the missing siblings. The searchers are committed to leaving no stone unturned and are dedicated to bringing Lilly and Jack Sullivan back to their family.
As the search continues, the community remains hopeful for a positive outcome and the safe return of Lilly and Jack Sullivan. The search teams are working tirelessly to find the missing children and bring closure to their family and loved ones.
