Marino meets to win our Open Singles qualification match, Branstine and Galarneau, bouncing

Rebecca Marino from Vancouver began strong, faded and then clarified to survive two competition points before gathering her offer to qualify for the 145th US Open Tennis Championships on Monday in New York.

Marino won the first set of her ladies singles match 6-3 in 31 minutes against Lanlana Tararudee, but then lost 6-2 and was 5-3 to the 21-year-old from Thailand Down before gathering for a 7-5 victory in a match that lasted two hours, 11 minutes to complete.

Marino had more double errors than Tararudene (8-6), fewer aces (9-8) and few competitions in a row (7-6). But she came big in the third set and broke Tararudene at 5-3 and 5-5 to develop the exciting comeback.

Marion won four of the five breaking points, while Tararudene won only four out of 11. The Canadian won 67 percent of her points on the first service, compared to 73 for her young rival.

The 34-year-old Marino continues to play Mai Hontama from Japan.

Other results

In other qualifying matches on Monday, the American-Canadian Carson Branstine won her first set 6-3 against XIyu Wang of China, but lost the next two sets 6-3, 6-3.

Branstine had 52 casual mistakes in the two -hour match of 13 minutes and only one bait.

Wang led in winners (21-18), Aces (2-1) and double errors (8-3).

Branstine earned 70 percent of its points on the first service compared to 64 percent for Wang, who won four of the six breaking points, while Branstine won only two of the nine.

Branstine was born and raised in California, but she has double citizenship thanks to her mother who is Canadian.

In the meantime, Alexis Galarneau lost to Laval, Que., His men’s singles competition 6-7 (7), 1-6 of Dino Prizmic of Croatia on Monday.

Both players had two Azen in the one -hour match, 40 minutes, and both players registered an 81 percent percentage on the first portions.

Prizmic led in double mistakes (4-2), games in a row (6-2), Won Service games (7-5) and Tiebreak wins (1-0).

Prizmic had a 63-55 lead in profit percentage on the first serve, but dominated on the second Serve (88 to 42 percent).

Galarneau won two of the seven breaking points, while Prizmic won five out of nine.

Play in the US Open started on Sunday and competitions will be held for 15 days and will be completed with the final of the ladies singles on 6 September and the final of the men on September 7.

The defensive champions are Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner, who are the best seeds. Venus Williams is also in the field, which means she returns to Grand Slam Tennis at the age of 45.
