Democrat Rep. Stansbury goes on profane tirade during sanctuary city hearing: ‘total bulls***’

Democrat Rep. Melanie Stansbury Slams Trump Administration and Republicans in Fiery House Oversight Committee Hearing

During a recent House Oversight Committee hearing on sanctuary cities, Democrat Rep. Melanie Stansbury of New Mexico unleashed a curse-laden tirade against the Trump administration and Republicans, calling the hearing “absolute bulls–t.”

The hearing featured testimony from mayors Eric Adams of New York City, Michelle Wu of Boston, Brandon Johnson of Chicago, and Mike Johnston of Denver, all of whom are Democrats leading cities with migrant “sanctuary” policies. These policies aim to protect illegal immigrants, including those facing criminal charges, by limiting cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities.

Representing a heavily blue border state, Stansbury vocally defended the sanctuary mayors and criticized Republicans for what she perceived as an attempt to intimidate local elected officials.

“I always think that we should sage this room after these hearings because we hear a lot of crazy stuff in here,” she began. “Our mayors are sitting here, enduring this ridiculous, ridiculous hearing as they’ve been threatened in front of the American people.”

“I want to reject the fundamental premise of this hearing,” Stansbury continued. “Because what this entire effort is about is intimidating state and local officials, attacking law-abiding immigrant families, and spending millions of taxpayer dollars on ads that are complete smoke and mirrors, attempting to portray Donald Trump as having somehow enhanced America’s safety.”

“It’s total bulls–t, absolute bulls–t,” she exclaimed. “They are not making America safer again, and what they are doing is terrorizing immigrant families. That is what they are doing.”

Stansbury also criticized President Donald Trump for failing to deliver on his promise to pass immigration reform during his time in office.

Throwing up her hands and scanning the room, Stansbury challenged Trump, saying, “Here we are, Donald Trump, where’s your immigration bill? Oh wait, you don’t have one, that’s right. Because none of this is actually about making America safer.”

Stansbury made headlines again when she stood on the House floor before Trump’s joint address to Congress, holding a sign that read, “This is not normal.”
