Cryptocurrency investor accused of kidnapping, torturing Italian tourist in NYC

A horrifying incident has recently come to light in New York City, where a cryptocurrency investor has been charged with kidnapping and torturing his former business partner for two weeks. John Woeltz, 37, allegedly orchestrated a sadistic plot inside his plush townhouse in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan, using extreme methods such as a taser, chainsaw, and other twisted tactics to extract passwords from the victim.

The victim, a 28-year-old Italian tourist with whom Woeltz had prior business dealings, was lured to the townhouse on May 6. Once there, he was restrained, his passport was confiscated, and he was subjected to brutal torture in an extortion scheme to obtain valuable passwords, as reported by the New York Post. Additionally, a 24-year-old woman, Beatrice Folchi, has also been arrested in connection with the case.

The victim endured unimaginable abuse, including being bound with electrical cords, tasered while submerged in water, pistol-whipped, forced to consume cocaine, and threatened with dismemberment using an electric chainsaw. Shocking Polaroid photos depicting the victim bound and tortured were discovered by police, along with weapons and other incriminating evidence.

Fortunately, the victim managed to escape his captors and sought help from a nearby traffic cop. Law enforcement swiftly responded to the scene, with SWAT teams and emergency vehicles descending on the area. Woeltz was seen cuffed and barefooted outside his townhouse, wearing a robe.

Woeltz, originally from Kentucky, now faces charges of second-degree assault, kidnapping, and unlawful imprisonment. Despite his arrest, he remained silent as he was escorted out of the precinct in a white t-shirt. Meanwhile, the victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.

Beatrice Folchi, the woman implicated in the kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment, has also been charged in connection with the disturbing incident. Residents in the area expressed shock at the news, describing Woeltz as a seemingly normal and affluent individual.
