Elon Musk, DOGE leader, no longer working from White House: report

Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest individual, is in the process of transitioning from his role with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and is no longer working regularly from the White House, as reported by the New York Post. This move comes as no surprise, as the White House had previously confirmed that Musk would refocus on Tesla once he had completed his work at DOGE.
As an unpaid special government employee under DOGE, the Tesla CEO continues to be involved with the agency remotely. In an interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier, Musk expressed confidence that the work done by DOGE would lead to a significant reduction in the deficit by a trillion dollars within the expected timeframe of 130 days. Additionally, during a Tesla earnings call, Musk informed investors that he would be dedicating more of his time to Tesla in the upcoming months.
While the exact amount of money recovered by DOGE remains unknown, Musk believes that significant progress has been made towards reducing the deficit. White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles emphasized that Musk working remotely has not hindered the agency’s progress, stating, “Instead of meeting with him in person, I’m talking to him on the phone, but it’s the same net effect. He hasn’t been here physically, but it really doesn’t matter much.”
Wiles also mentioned that Musk’s team continues to operate from the Eisenhower Executive Office Building near the West Wing, indicating that Musk is still actively involved with DOGE. Despite stepping back slightly, Musk remains committed to the agency’s work and is not abandoning it altogether.
Overall, Musk’s efforts with DOGE have shed light on wasteful spending and inefficiencies within the government. His dedication to improving government efficiency and reducing the deficit has been a key focus of his work with the agency. As he transitions back to focusing on Tesla, Musk’s impact on government efficiency is likely to have a lasting effect on future initiatives within the government sector.
