ICE captures illegal immigrant wanted for allegedly killing mom in crash

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has captured an Ecuadorian illegal immigrant who is facing vehicular homicide charges in Minnesota. German Adriano Llangari Inga was arrested on Friday after a crash in August that resulted in the death of mother Victoria Eileen Harwell. According to DHS and local media outlets, Inga had a blood alcohol content “twice the legal limit” at the time of the crash, which also injured Harwell’s teenage daughter and sister.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin condemned the lack of cooperation from local Minnesota authorities in apprehending Inga. Despite ICE placing detainer requests on him, he was released by the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office in May without notifying the agency. The Sheriff’s Office cited guidance from the state Attorney General, stating they cannot hold individuals based solely on ICE detainers.

In August, Inga was in county jail for two days before being released again. ICE officers tracked him down and removed him from the streets, despite the lack of cooperation from local authorities. McLaughlin criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for not supporting ICE’s efforts to apprehend criminal illegal aliens.

The White House also criticized Minnesota leaders for allowing Inga to remain at large. He first entered the United States in June 2016 and was detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection before being placed into removal proceedings. The Trump administration emphasized the importance of protecting constituents and holding illegal immigrants accountable for their crimes.

In the wake of this incident, it is clear that cooperation between federal and local authorities is crucial in ensuring public safety. The case of German Adriano Llangari Inga highlights the challenges faced by ICE in apprehending criminal illegal aliens and the need for stronger enforcement measures.
