US Election 2024

Connecticut Senate Democrats list outrageous things they’d rather endure instead of 100 more days of Trump

Connecticut Senate Democrats made waves on social media this week with an outlandish TikTok video that showcased lawmakers listing out a series of unpleasant scenarios they would prefer over enduring another 100 days of the Trump administration.

The video, which was filmed partially in the State Senate chamber, featured State Sen. Herron Keyon Gaston stating that he would rather have 100 bad haircuts than face another 100 days of President Donald Trump. Other lawmakers chimed in with their own humorous takes, suggesting they would rather endure 100 vaccination shots in the arm, spend 100 hours in a traffic jam on Interstate 84, or even cook 100 family meals.

State Sen. Julie Kushner, D-Danbury, added a lighthearted touch to the video by joking that she would rather cook 100 family meals, a task she said her kids would find “very funny.” Meanwhile, State Sen. Ceci Maher offered a comical suggestion, stating that she would rather listen to 100 children on a bus singing “100 bottles of beer on the wall” than face another 100 days of the Trump administration.

The video comes on the heels of President Trump’s assertion at a recent Michigan rally that his administration had achieved the most successful first 100 days in presidential history. During his second term, Trump focused on addressing border security, trade, education, civil rights, technology, and innovation, as reported by Fox News Digital.

Despite Trump’s claims of success, recent polling data indicates a mixed reception for his administration. The latest Fox News national poll, conducted from April 18-21, showed Trump with a 44% approval rating and a 55% disapproval rating. On specific issues, Trump received higher approval ratings for border security and immigration, while facing lower approval ratings for inflation, tariffs, foreign policy, taxes, and gun control.

As the debate over the administration’s performance continues, Connecticut Senate Democrats have made their opinions clear through their viral TikTok video. While the video may have garnered just over 100 likes on the platform, it has sparked conversation and highlighted the lighthearted approach some lawmakers are taking in addressing political issues.

In the midst of a polarizing political climate, it’s refreshing to see lawmakers inject humor and creativity into the conversation. Whether it’s through TikTok videos or other forms of communication, finding ways to engage with constituents and spark dialogue is essential in a democracy. As the 2020 election approaches, it will be interesting to see how lawmakers continue to connect with voters and address the important issues facing our nation.
