Mace challenges Crockett to ‘take it outside’ during wild House spat

The House Oversight Committee descended into chaos on Tuesday as tensions flared between Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., and Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, resulting in a heated exchange that nearly turned physical. The confrontation began when Crockett made a comment about women’s rights and transgender rights, prompting Mace to challenge her to a fight.

The argument escalated as Mace adamantly refused to be called a child, asserting her status as a grown woman who has overcome numerous obstacles in her life. The two representatives talked over each other, while House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer struggled to restore order with his gavel.

Crockett accused Republicans of targeting vulnerable communities, particularly transgender individuals, and emphasized the importance of standing up for civil rights. Mace, on the other hand, defended her stance on women’s rights and condemned left-wing extremism that seeks to undermine the voices and rights of women.

Following the altercation, both Mace and Crockett took to social media to address the incident. Mace clarified that her intention was not to incite violence but rather to have a constructive conversation away from the heated atmosphere of the committee. She also shared her personal experience of being physically assaulted by a transgender individual, highlighting the need to address such issues seriously.

Crockett dismissed Mace’s behavior as performative and suggested that the incident underscored the necessity of reinstating the Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties. Despite the contentious exchange, both representatives vowed to continue advocating for their respective causes and standing up for what they believe in.

The clash between Mace and Crockett occurred on the same day that the House passed a bill prohibiting transgender athletes from participating in women’s sports at federally funded schools. Two House Democrats broke ranks to support the bill, emphasizing the ongoing debate surrounding transgender rights and women’s sports.
