Robert Kardashian Bible sells for $80K in OJ Simpson auction
The Bible that was once in the possession of late lawyer Robert Kardashian Sr. and gifted to his former client O.J. Simpson has recently been sold at auction for a substantial sum, as reported by TMZ. Despite an offer of $15,000 from Kardashian’s daughter, Kim Kardashian, the final bid on the Bible reached $80,276 by the deadline on March 29.
The Bible, which featured a heartfelt inscription from Kardashian to Simpson, garnered a total of 49 bids, with 14 of them coming in on the final day of availability. The inscription read, “O.J., this book will help. God loves and he will speak to you with his words. Read this book everyday. God has a definite plan for your life. You are his child and he will use you again. I love you and God loves you.”
Malcolm LaVergne, the special administrator of O.J.’s estate, expressed uncertainty about the identity of the buyer but acknowledged that Simpson’s legacy continues to endure, regardless of public sentiment towards him.
The auction of Simpson’s estate brought in an estimated $300,000 in sales, with items such as a personally signed and framed photo of Simpson with former President Bill Clinton selling for over $18,000, and a replica of Simpson’s 1968 Heisman Trophy fetching $42,700. Simpson, a former NFL running back, won the Heisman Trophy in 1968 and made history in 1973 by becoming the first running back to rush for over 2,000 yards in a single season.
Despite being acquitted of murder charges in the high-profile trial surrounding the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, Simpson faced legal challenges for years to come. He lost a civil lawsuit and was ordered to pay $33.5 million to the victims’ families, a debt he largely did not fulfill. Simpson passed away on April 10, 2024, after battling prostate cancer.
