Pro-life movement shakes up messaging with $30M investment fund

The pro-life movement is gearing up for a new era under a potential second Donald Trump administration, as it seeks to adapt its cultural messaging in a post-Dobbs era. A $30 million investment is being made through a membership-only organization called the Pro-Life Venture Fund, which is set to provide a significant boost to the movement.

Key figures in the pro-life movement, including Leonard Leo, Ray Ruddy, and Princeton Professor Robert George, have announced the creation of the Pro-Life Venture Fund. David Bereit, the founder of the pro-life organization 40 Days for Life, will serve as the chair of the fund. In an interview with Fox News Digital, Bereit emphasized the importance of providing support and resources to individuals facing unexpected pregnancies, in order to offer them alternatives to abortion.

The group also revealed plans for the Life Leadership Conference, a members-only coalition that will bring together influencers and philanthropists who are committed to advancing the pro-life cause. The conference aims to tackle the new challenges facing the movement, including efforts to enshrine abortion rights in state constitutions.

While the Supreme Court recently overturned Roe v. Wade, the memo from the Pro-Life Venture Fund highlights the need for strong messaging to combat ongoing challenges. The memo emphasizes the importance of adapting strategies to build public support and advance the pro-life cause in legislatures and courts. It also stresses the need to provide practical assistance to pregnant women in need, in addition to advocating for unborn babies.

Abortion emerged as a key issue in the 2024 election, with former Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party pushing for expanded federal abortion access, while President Donald Trump supported state-level restrictions. In one of his first executive actions, Trump pardoned 23 pro-life protesters who had been imprisoned for violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act under the Biden administration.
