Elon Musk announces mandatory productivity reports for federal employees

Tech billionaire and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has made a bold announcement regarding federal employees in a new initiative by the Trump administration. Musk revealed that all federal workers are now required to report their productivity on a weekly basis. This directive comes in the form of an email that employees must fill out to detail their accomplishments from the previous week. Musk made it clear that failure to respond to this email will be interpreted as a resignation from their position.

This move is part of Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)’s efforts to streamline operations and eliminate any suspected wasteful spending within the federal government. In a recent post, DOGE disclosed that there are currently 4 million active credit cards linked to the U.S. government, which processed approximately 90 million transactions totaling around $40 billion in spending during the fiscal year 2024.

President Donald Trump has expressed his support for Musk’s work with DOGE, urging him to be even more aggressive in his efforts. Trump commended Musk for his performance but emphasized the importance of saving and improving the country. Musk, in response, pledged to heed the President’s call for greater action to achieve these goals.

As Musk continues to push for efficiency and accountability within the federal government, it remains to be seen how this initiative will impact the productivity and performance of federal employees. The White House has been approached for further comment on the matter.
