Nova Scotia RCMP says a 24-year-old man from Eskasoni has been arrested following an attack on a community walkway.

Mounties said they found an unconscious man on a path near Shore Road around 10am on Friday. The 23-year-old victim had injuries considered life-threatening and was airlifted to hospital in Halifax.

Shortly thereafter, at 12:40 a.m., Eskasoni RCMP found a suspect at a home on Yarrow Lane in the community.

Copl. Nova Scotia RCMP’s Chris Marshall said Monday the man was arrested without incident and taken to the local detachment.

“Our members executed a search warrant at the house on Yarrow Lane, where they found and seized clothing,” he said. “That has to do with the research.”

No weapon was used in the attack, according to police.

Marshall said the arrested man has been released on conditions and will appear in court on September 5. He will be charged with aggravated assault.

Marshall said the victim’s condition has improved since Friday and his condition is stable.
