Navarro slams Bolton for ‘profiteering off secrets’ after FBI raid

Trump trade adviser Peter Navarro slams John Bolton for profiteering off America’s secrets

Former Trump trade adviser Peter Navarro criticized John Bolton for allegedly profiteering off America’s secrets after the FBI raided Bolton’s home last week in connection to a classified document probe.

Navarro, who served alongside Bolton and advised Trump on trade, penned an op-ed for The Hill, where he described Bolton as a “loose cannon” with a penchant for military solutions over diplomacy.

Bolton, who was Trump’s national security advisor from 2018 to 2019, published a book in 2020 titled The Room Where it Happened, reportedly earning a $2 million advance for divulging details of his time in the administration.

Navarro accused Bolton of divulging confidential information about U.S. deliberations, potentially jeopardizing national security. He criticized Bolton for not upholding executive privilege and profiteering off sensitive information.

The FBI recently executed a search warrant on Bolton’s home and office, prompting further scrutiny into his actions and the potential violation of U.S. code regarding national defense information.

Navarro warned that if Bolton is found guilty of unauthorized disclosure of classified information, he could face legal repercussions, potentially leading to imprisonment for compromising America’s security.

Despite Bolton’s refusal to testify during the first Trump impeachment, Democrats have also criticized him for allegedly saving sensitive information for his book. A judge previously found that Bolton had likely disclosed classified information in violation of his nondisclosure agreement.

The controversy surrounding Bolton’s actions highlights the importance of safeguarding national security information and upholding confidentiality in government dealings.
