Trump FBI director pick Kash Patel ‘instrumental in unraveling’ Russia collusion hoax, former chair says

Kash Patel, the nominee for FBI director under President-elect Donald Trump, played a crucial role as the chief investigator in the congressional probe into alleged Trump-Russia collusion. Patel’s work led to the discovery of government surveillance abuse, which ultimately resulted in the appointment of two special counsels. These special counsels determined that there was no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, and that the FBI’s original investigation was based on false premises.

Patel served as senior counsel and national security adviser on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) under then-Chair Rep. Devin Nunes. Nunes, who is now the head of Trump’s Truth Social site, praised Patel for his dedication to unraveling the Russia collusion hoax despite attempts by the FBI and DOJ to obstruct the investigation.

The FBI’s investigation, known as “Crossfire Hurricane,” was launched in July 2016 to look into potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 election. This investigation was based on the infamous Steele dossier, which contained unverified allegations about Trump’s ties to Russia. It was later revealed that the dossier was funded by the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

Patel’s work in the HPSCI investigation uncovered widespread surveillance abuse, including improper surveillance of former Trump campaign aide Carter Page. He was instrumental in the creation of a memo released by Nunes in February 2018, which detailed the DOJ and FBI’s surveillance of Page under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

The memo revealed that the FBI had omitted crucial information about the origins of the dossier when applying for a FISA warrant to spy on Page. It also highlighted the FBI’s use of the dossier as the basis for obtaining the warrant, despite knowing that the information in the dossier was unverified.

Despite facing backlash from Democrats, the memo was ultimately proven to be correct. The Justice Department inspector general confirmed that the dossier played a significant role in obtaining the FISA warrants against Page.

Patel’s dedication to uncovering the truth did not go unnoticed. He faced personal attacks and surveillance from the FBI during the investigation, but he persisted in exposing the government’s malfeasance. Nunes commended Patel for his commitment to revealing one of the greatest election interference scandals of all time.

In conclusion, Patel’s work as the chief investigator in the congressional probe into Trump-Russia collusion was instrumental in uncovering government surveillance abuse and exposing the false premise of the FBI’s original investigation. His efforts contributed to the appointment of special counsels who ultimately determined that there was no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. Patel’s dedication to upholding the rule of law and exposing government misconduct makes him a strong candidate for FBI director.
