Chiefs’ Travis Kelce sounds off on lack of scoring this season: ‘F—ing frustrating’

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has been struggling to find the endzone this season, with only two touchdowns to his name so far. In a recent interview on “New Heights,” Kelce expressed his frustration with his lack of production in the red zone, stating, “Where I take a lot of pride is once we get in that red zone, man, I get a little hungrier. And right now, just for whatever reason this year, I just can’t find my way into the endzone. I’m just not on the same page as Pat (Mahomes) and it can get frustrating, it can get f—ing frustrating, that’s for damn sure.”
During the Chiefs’ recent game against the Las Vegas Raiders, there was a specific play that stood out to Kelce as emblematic of his struggles, but he clarified that it was not just that play that was the issue. Despite recording seven catches for 68 yards in the win against the Raiders, Kelce was unable to score a touchdown.
Last season, Kelce saw a dip in his touchdown production, scoring only five touchdowns compared to 12 in the previous season. However, he did manage to score three touchdowns in four games during the Chiefs’ run to their second consecutive Super Bowl win.
This season, Kelce has 75 catches for 627 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games, taking on a larger role in the offense due to an injury to wide receiver Rashee Rice. Despite the Chiefs’ impressive 11-1 record and clinching a playoff spot, Kelce remains unsatisfied with his performance, stating, “As s—ty as I’ve played, you know it does feel good to be in my tenth year in a row making the playoffs man.”
Currently leading the AFC West and holding the No. 1 seed in the AFC, the Chiefs are looking to secure a first-round bye in the playoffs. Their next game against the Los Angeles Chargers will be a crucial matchup in determining the winner of the AFC West.
In conclusion, Travis Kelce’s frustration with his lack of red zone production highlights his competitive drive and desire to contribute more to the team. As the Chiefs continue their quest for another Super Bowl title, Kelce will be looking to improve his performance and help lead his team to victory.
