‘JFK’ director Oliver Stone calls on Congress to reopen investigation into Kennedy assassination

Renowned filmmaker Oliver Stone has called on U.S. legislators to reopen the investigation into the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, urging a reassessment of everything from the crime scene to the courtroom. Stone, known for his 1991 film “JFK” which delved into the investigation of Kennedy’s assassination, raised concerns about the CIA’s handling of files related to the case during a recent address in Washington, D.C.

Stone expressed frustration with the CIA’s lack of transparency regarding the assassination, stating that despite legal mandates, the agency has failed to provide crucial information. He highlighted the need to uncover the truth behind the events leading up to Kennedy’s tragic death in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963. Stone emphasized the importance of examining key pieces of evidence, such as the rifle and bullets used, fingerprints, and the autopsy report.

President Donald Trump’s executive order to release long-concealed materials related to Kennedy’s assassination and other high-profile cases, including those of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., has sparked renewed interest in these historical events. The recent release of 80,000 pages of JFK files on March 18 has provided experts and conspiracy theorists with a wealth of material to analyze and scrutinize.

Stone called on the Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets to reopen the investigation into Kennedy’s assassination, urging lawmakers to pick up where the Warren Commission left off. The Warren Commission, which conducted an investigation into the assassination, concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in killing the president, a theory that has been widely criticized and dubbed the “magic bullet theory.”

Stone criticized the lack of a thorough investigation into the assassination, pointing to inconsistencies and unanswered questions surrounding the case. He called for a comprehensive review of the evidence, including the chain of custody on the rifle and bullets, Oswald’s fingerprints, and the questionable autopsy process. Stone also raised concerns about the CIA’s involvement in the case, citing Deputy CIA Director James Angleton and other high-ranking officials as potential key players in a broader conspiracy.

Despite the FBI’s assertion that Oswald acted alone in killing Kennedy, Stone and other critics believe that there are still unanswered questions and unresolved issues surrounding the assassination. Stone’s impassioned plea for a reinvestigation of the case underscores the need for transparency and accountability in uncovering the truth behind one of the most significant events in American history.

As calls for a new investigation into Kennedy’s assassination grow louder, the quest for justice and closure for the Kennedy family and the American public continues. The release of long-concealed documents and the scrutiny of key evidence may provide new insights into a pivotal moment in U.S. history, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding President Kennedy’s untimely death.
