The fear of cancer is a reality for many individuals, but there are proactive steps that can be taken to reduce the risk. Michelle Patidar, an integrative nutrition and cancer recovery coach based in Chicago, recently shared her ongoing battle against cancer even after successfully overcoming it. In a recent social media post, she detailed the specific actions she has taken since her diagnosis.

Patidar revealed a list of items that she has eliminated from her kitchen since completing her cancer treatments. She emphasized the importance of gradually making changes and replacing harmful products with healthier alternatives. By doing a complete kitchen overhaul, she feels more empowered and in control of her health.

Here is the comprehensive list of items that Patidar removed from her kitchen, along with their replacements:

1. Refined oils have been swapped for extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, ghee, and grass-fed butter.
2. Nonstick cookware has been replaced with stainless steel and cast-iron options.
3. Aluminum foil has been substituted with non-bleached parchment paper.
4. Plastic containers and bags have been exchanged for glass containers and paper bags.
5. Scented candles have been replaced with essential oils.
6. Plastic water bottles have been switched for glass and stainless steel alternatives.
7. Plastic cutting boards have been traded for wood cutting boards.
8. Ultra-processed foods have been replaced with whole foods and snacks free of added sugars and harmful preservatives.

Patidar emphasized the importance of taking a holistic approach to health, considering factors beyond just nutrition and exercise. Environmental factors, such as the products used daily, can significantly impact overall well-being. Even seemingly insignificant items like plastic bottles and containers can contribute to our health.

By making these changes, Patidar has reduced her exposure to harmful chemicals and improved her indoor air quality. Focusing on quality fats and oils over processed foods has helped lower inflammation, crucial for cancer prevention and recovery. Simply making a single swap from the list can enhance overall health and support better cancer prevention.
