Trump predicts Gaza ceasefire likely ‘within the next week’

President Donald Trump has made a bold prediction regarding the ongoing conflict in Gaza, stating that he believes a ceasefire could be achieved within the next week. Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump described the situation in Gaza as “terrible” but expressed optimism that progress was being made towards peace between Israel and Hamas.

“We think it’s close. I just spoke with some of the people involved,” Trump stated confidently. “We think within the next week we’re going to get a ceasefire.”

The president also addressed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, highlighting the efforts being made by the United States to provide aid to the region. Trump emphasized the importance of other countries stepping up to offer assistance as well, noting the heartbreaking scenes of people in Gaza struggling to access basic necessities.

“We’re the ones that are getting it there. Some of it’s being taken by some bad people, as you give it out, and they’re supposed to be taking care of the people, and they end up stealing the food and selling it,” Trump explained. “But we have a pretty good system now, so we’re helping with that.”

Trump’s comments come in the wake of his authorization of U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear development sites and his subsequent declaration of a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, bringing an end to what he referred to as “the Twelve Day War.” The president’s focus on achieving peace in the region underscores his commitment to diplomatic solutions and humanitarian aid.

In response to questions about Ukraine’s air defenses, Trump hinted at the possibility of authorizing Patriot missiles for the country. This move would further demonstrate the United States’ support for Ukraine in the face of ongoing geopolitical challenges.
