‘Life is never, ever going to be the same for this family again’: Brother, friend remember 2 killed in Calgary

Ania Kaminski and her father Stanislaw Wardzala are being mourned as a loving mother and grandfather of three young children following a tragic double homicide over the weekend. The devastating incident, which police have described as targeted and domestic in nature, has left the community in shock.

The victims, a woman in her 30s and a man in his 70s, were found dead at separate locations in Calgary, sparking a manhunt for the suspect, Ania’s spouse, 38-year-old Benedict Kaminski. Tragically, Benedict’s body was discovered near his vehicle in a rural area 80 kilometers northwest of Calgary.

Ania’s younger brother, Peter Wardzala, revealed that the fatal altercation may have stemmed from a heated argument between Ania and Benedict during a Christmas Day dinner. Tensions escalated to the point where violence nearly erupted between Benedict and Peter, leaving the family in disbelief.

Peter shared that Ania had confided in him about her plans to leave Benedict following the Christmas dinner dispute. However, just days later, Ania and their father were tragically killed in separate incidents.

Ania, 33, leaves behind three young children – a six-year-old son, a four-year-old daughter, and a two-year-old son. Described as a devoted mother, daughter, and sister, Ania’s presence lit up the lives of those around her. She was known for her selflessness and unwavering love for her family.

Stanislaw, Ania’s father, was hailed as the pillar of their family. A loving husband, community figure, and mentor, Stanislaw’s infectious laughter and caring nature endeared him to all who knew him. Despite facing challenges in his later years, Stanislaw remained a source of strength and joy for his loved ones.
