Trump DC crackdown: 1,914 arrests made including illegal immigrants

Federal Crime Crackdown in D.C. Leads to Nearly 2,000 Arrests

FIRST ON FOX: President Donald Trump’s aggressive crime crackdown in Washington, D.C. has resulted in 1,914 arrests since August 7, with dozens more apprehended on Thursday night alone. Among those arrested were an illegal immigrant on a terrorist watch list and a person of interest linked to a gun found abandoned on school grounds, according to Fox News Digital.

Law enforcement agencies, including the National Guard, Metropolitan Police Department, FBI, DEA, Capitol Police, and ATF, have joined forces to conduct sweeps and combat crime in the nation’s capital as part of Trump’s initiative to tackle rampant criminal activity.

During Thursday’s operation, 73 individuals were arrested, including individuals with prior arrests for offenses such as grand theft, carjacking, assault, and drug trafficking. One person was apprehended for carrying a firearm without a license and was identified as a person of interest in a school gun incident.

The crackdown has also led to the rescue of six missing children and the seizure of nearly 200 firearms. Additionally, 50 homeless encampments have been cleared across the city as part of the operation.

White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers praised President Trump’s efforts, stating, “Thanks to President Trump, some of the most dangerous criminals have been removed from the streets of D.C. His tough-on-crime policies have made the city safer for residents and visitors alike.”

Trump’s decision to federalize the Metropolitan Police Department and extend the presence of the National Guard in D.C. underscores his commitment to restoring law and order in the city. The move has resulted in a significant decrease in crime, with 13 days of zero homicides recorded in August.

Despite Trump’s success in reducing crime in D.C., his proposal to deploy the National Guard to other cities has faced criticism from local leaders who view it as unnecessary and authoritarian. Democratic Illinois Governor JB Pritzker condemned the move, calling it “unprecedented, unwarranted, illegal, unconstitutional, and un-American.”

As Trump continues his efforts to combat crime and uphold law and order, the impact of his federal crime crackdown in Washington, D.C. serves as a testament to his commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all Americans.
