Texas man charged with threats against ICE agents

A Texas man named Robert Wilson King has been charged in federal court for making threats against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. King, a U.S. citizen, was arrested in McKinney, Texas, after he posted disturbing threats online on March 29. Homeland Security Investigations reported the incident last week, leading to King’s appearance in federal court where he was charged with transmitting interstate threats. A judge has ordered him to be held pending a detention hearing scheduled for Wednesday.

The 35-year-old King posted a series of threats on Facebook targeting ICE agents and making disparaging remarks about Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. In one post, he shared a PBS NewsHour article and expressed his desire for Noem to meet a horrible demise, referring to her as a “Nazi scum” and criticizing the current state of America as a “Nazi fascist state.” In another post, King threatened to open fire on ICE agents if he saw them in his neighborhood, claiming it was time to utilize the second amendment and calling for the killing of ICE agents, whom he referred to as a “secret police force with no real legal authority.”

Despite federal prosecutors noting that King later reiterated his threats online, Noem had previously issued a stern warning following a similar threat made by an individual on TikTok. In a post on X on March 30, Noem emphasized that anyone who threatens or attempts to harm a law enforcement officer will be found and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

The incident involving King underscores the seriousness of making threats against law enforcement officials and the consequences that individuals may face for such actions. It also highlights the importance of upholding the rule of law and respecting the authority of agencies like ICE in carrying out their duties. The case serves as a reminder of the need to address grievances through legal and peaceful means, rather than resorting to violence or threats.
