Texas woman shot armed man who tried to enter her home: police

On Friday, a brave Texas woman took action to protect herself when an armed man tried to force his way into her home. The incident occurred in the 400 block of Raintree Circle in DeSoto, where the woman called 911 to report an unknown man with a pistol in her backyard.

As the man attempted to enter the home through the rear garage door, the woman took matters into her own hands. She shot the intruder, later identified as Octavio Flores Mondragon, in the face and chest. Police arrived at the scene within minutes and found Mondragon on the ground in the garage with a pistol beside him. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

According to reports, the woman had noticed a dark truck following her home from a nearby Taco Bell. The truck followed her into her neighborhood and pulled into the rear driveway behind her car. Feeling threatened, the woman armed herself with a pistol and called 911. When Mondragon attempted to enter her home, she fired multiple shots, striking him twice.

Mondragon now faces charges of first-degree burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony. The police are still investigating the motive behind the incident.
