Three 14-year-olds charged with assault at Bedford middle school in October

BEDFORD, N.S. — Halifax Regional Police arrested and charged three 14-year-olds with assaulting another teen at a junior high school in Bedford in October.

That brings the total number of arrests to seven in connection with the incident at Rocky Lake Junior High on Oct. 19. Police had previously filed charges against another teen, 17, and three adults — two men, 18 and 38, and a woman, 36.

The newly charged youths will appear in court at a later date to face one count each of assault.

Just before 1 p.m. on the day of fracas, police were called to a disturbance at the Rocky Lake Road school after a teen had allegedly been hit with a rock by another teen they knew.

As the victim fled to the lobby, police said, a vehicle with four adults, all known to the assailant, pulled into the school’s parking lot “at a high rate of speed.”

Joined by the culprit and other teens, the adults reportedly entered the school to confront and assault the victim again.

While inside, one of the adults allegedly threatened a staff member who attempted to intervene.

Police arrived and eventually removed the suspects from the school.
