Three people charged by Millbrook RCMP with drug trafficking

MILLBROOK, N.S. — Millbrook RCMP, assisted by the Colchester County District RCMP and Truro Police Service, have charged three individuals following a traffic stop in Millbrook that led to a seizure of drugs.

At approximately 3:05 a.m. on Feb. 9, RCMP stopped a vehicle on William Barnhill Road as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking.

During the stop, officers observed that the vehicle passengers were not wearing seatbelts, followed by two of the three passengers providing false identification to officers. The two men were subsequently arrested.

Officers then searched the vehicle, and seized a quantity of what is suspected to be cocaine, methamphetamine, hydromorphone and diazepam, along with a scale.

The third passenger, a woman from Truro, was then arrested.

Craig Andrew Pike, 40, of Millbrook; Malique Dae-Shawn Olowu, 20, of Debert; and Haylie Lauretta Smith, 22, of Truro have each been charged with trafficking in substance (facing four counts each).

Pike has also been charged with wilfully obstructing a peace officer, resisting a peace officer, and being at large without excuse. Olowu has also been charged with wilfully obstructing a peace officer and failure to comply with an order (four counts).

Pike was remanded into custody and will appear in Truro Provincial Court on Feb. 21 at 9:30 a.m. Olowu was held in custody and later released on conditions by the court. He will return in Truro Provincial Court on Feb. 21 at 9:30 a.m. Smith was later released on conditions and will appear in Truro Provincial Court on May 1 at 9:30 a.m.
