Top Minnesotan in Congress rips Walz’s pro-trans policies after deadly shooting

Exclusive: Minnesota Congressman Blames Governor for Handling of Catholic School Shooting
The highest-ranking Minnesotan in Congress, House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, has criticized his state’s Democratic governor, Tim Walz, for his response to a deadly shooting at a Minneapolis Catholic school. Emmer accused Walz and his administration of exacerbating the problem rather than working towards a solution.
A 23-year-old gunman opened fire during a Mass at the Annunciation Catholic Church, resulting in the deaths of two children and injuries to several others. The shooter, identified as Robin Westman, claimed to be transgender and had a history of mental health issues.
Emmer lambasted Democrats for using the tragedy to push for gun control measures instead of addressing the underlying mental health concerns. He criticized Walz for prioritizing transgender policies over the safety of all individuals, including those of faith.
Authorities revealed that the shooter harbored hate towards various groups and had an obsession with mass shooters. Reports indicated that Westman struggled with his transgender identity and expressed regret over it before the attack.
Walz, who has not commented on the shooter’s identity, focused on expressing condolences to the victims and gratitude towards law enforcement. Emmer called on the governor to prioritize the safety of all individuals and address the mental health crisis plaguing the state.
As the investigation into the shooting continues, Emmer urged Walz and Democrats to engage in a meaningful discussion on how to address mental health issues and prevent future tragedies.
