Trial begins over 2016 Paris jewel heist in which Kim Kardashian was tied up, robbed

A trial has kicked off in Paris that is bound to captivate the world. This trial revolves around the infamous 2016 heist in which armed robbers broke into Kim Kardashian’s bedroom during Fashion Week in Paris, tied her up, and stole millions of dollars’ worth of jewelry. The trial involves ten individuals – nine men and a woman – who are facing charges of robbery and kidnapping in connection to the incident.

Two of the accused have already admitted their involvement in the heist, while the others have denied any wrongdoing. Kim Kardashian, who has been vocal about the terrifying experience, is set to testify in person during the trial, which is expected to last until May 23. In a statement released by her lawyers, Kardashian expressed her respect for the French justice system and her desire for a fair and orderly trial.

The mastermind behind the robbery has been identified as Aomar Aït Khedache, known as “Old Omar.” Khedache is believed to have been one of the individuals who entered Kardashian’s apartment and threatened her with a gun. The gang of robbers, who have been dubbed “The Granddad Robbers” by the media due to their age and criminal backgrounds, managed to steal numerous pieces of jewelry, including a ring valued at over $6 million.

During the heist, Kardashian was reportedly taken to a bathroom and placed in a bathtub while the robbers made their escape. She managed to free herself and alert her sister about the incident. Despite the traumatic experience, Kardashian was left physically unharmed. Only one piece of jewelry, a diamond cross on platinum, has been recovered so far.

One of the accused, Yunice Abbas, admitted to playing a lookout role during the robbery, ensuring a safe escape route for the perpetrators. Abbas, who spent 21 months in prison before being released under judicial supervision, co-authored a book in 2021 detailing the incident.

Another key suspect, Didier Dubreucq, known as “Blue Eyes,” is believed to have directly participated in the robbery. Despite his denial, surveillance footage and phone records indicate his involvement in the crime.

The trial is expected to shed light on the events of that fateful night in 2016 and bring some closure to Kim Kardashian and the other victims of the heist. As the proceedings unfold, the world will be watching closely to see justice served in this high-profile case.
