2 men injured in Dartmouth house fire

Fire Engulfs A-Frame Home in Dartmouth, N.S., Sending Two Men to Hospital
On a quiet Friday afternoon in Dartmouth, N.S., a devastating fire broke out in a small A-frame home on Thompson Street, leaving two men injured and the structure completely gutted. The fire, which started over the noon hour, quickly spread through the house located at the end of a dead-end street behind Hawthorne Elementary School.
According to Dave Meldrum, Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency deputy chief, the call for help came in around 12:45 p.m. AT. “Our firefighters were called for a report of a house heavily engulfed in fire,” said Meldrum. “Our first unit was on the scene within five minutes and they encountered a home that was heavily involved in flames.”
Due to the intensity of the fire, crews had to initially attack the blaze from the outside of the building. “They were able to quickly bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading further,” Meldrum added.
During the rescue operation, firefighters assisted the two men who resided in the home until paramedics arrived. While the extent of their injuries was not disclosed, neighbors mentioned that both men appeared to have suffered burns as a result of the fire.
One firefighter also sustained minor burns during the operation but was treated at the hospital and later released.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the factors that led to the destructive blaze. The community has come together to support the affected individuals and offer assistance in any way possible in the aftermath of this tragic event.
