President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg, a Vietnam War veteran and retired general, for a newly created position as special envoy for the Ukraine conflict. This move comes as Trump aims to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
Kellogg, who previously served as former Vice President Mike Pence’s national security adviser, was chosen for his distinguished military and business career. Trump expressed his confidence in Kellogg’s abilities, stating, “Keith has led a distinguished Military and Business career, including serving in highly sensitive National Security roles in my first Administration. He was with me right from the beginning! Together, we will secure PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH, and Make America, and the World, SAFE AGAIN!”
According to Reuters, Kellogg presented Trump with a plan to end the conflict, which included the idea of using weapons supplied to Ukraine as leverage for armistice negotiations with Russia. Kellogg is currently the co-chair of the Center for American Security at the America First Policy Institute, a position that aligns with several other nominees within the new Trump administration.
In response to his nomination, Kellogg expressed his commitment to resolving the conflict, stating, “This conflict should’ve been solved years ago.” He emphasized the importance of finding a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
Kellogg’s appointment as special envoy for the Ukraine conflict underscores Trump’s dedication to addressing international issues and promoting peace through diplomacy. With his extensive military and national security experience, Kellogg is well-equipped to navigate the complexities of the Russia-Ukraine war and work towards a lasting solution.
As the new special envoy for the Ukraine conflict, Kellogg will play a crucial role in advancing Trump’s foreign policy agenda and promoting stability in the region. His appointment reflects Trump’s commitment to leveraging the expertise of seasoned professionals like Kellogg to address global challenges and ensure the safety and security of America and the world.
