Canada Soccer to honour veteran midfielder Desiree Scott at May friendly in Winnipeg
Canada’s women’s soccer team is gearing up for a pair of exciting friendlies against Haiti in the upcoming FIFA international window. The first match will take place on May 31 at Princess Auto Stadium in Winnipeg, where they will honor the remarkable career of veteran midfielder Desiree Scott. Scott, a native of Winnipeg, recently announced her retirement from international play after earning 187 caps and making 144 starts from 2010 to 2024.
The second friendly will be held on June 3 at Stade Saputo in Montreal. Canada, currently ranked seventh in the world, has a perfect record against Haiti, winning all three previous encounters. The last time these two teams met was in January 2012 when Canada secured a 6-0 victory in an Olympic qualifier in Vancouver, with former captain Christine Sinclair scoring four goals.
Desiree Scott, known as “The Destroyer” for her fierce defensive skills, has been a key player for Canada throughout her career.
