Trump set to deliver first rally-styled speech since decisive election win: ‘biggest conservative movement’
President-elect Trump is gearing up to make his first rally-styled speech since his decisive win over Vice President Kamala Harris in Phoenix, Arizona. The event, called AmFest 2024, is set to be the largest multi-day event in the conservative movement, according to Turning Point USA and Turning Point Action chief Charlie Kirk.
Kirk expressed his excitement about Trump’s participation in the event, stating that the former president requested the rally be themed as a ‘Tribute to Arizona.’ Trump has always had strong support from the people of Arizona, Kirk noted, and their loyalty was evident in the recent election results.
The rally is scheduled to take place at the Phoenix Convention Center on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. local time as part of Turning Point’s annual AmericaFest. This four-day event is touted as the biggest conservative movement in the country.
Trump’s appearance at the rally comes on the heels of Congress narrowly avoiding a government shutdown. Lawmakers passed a stopgap spending bill early Saturday morning, sending it to President Biden for his signature. The bill included provisions such as suspending the debt limit for two years and providing disaster relief aid to those affected by recent storms.
Conservatives and Trump allies, including billionaire Elon Musk, criticized the original lengthy legislation, prompting House lawmakers to craft a new bill that ultimately passed. Trump had called for the suspension of the debt limit as part of the negotiations to avert a shutdown, but the final bill sent to Biden did not include this provision.
Before Trump’s speech on Sunday, other conservative lawmakers and allies, such as Sen. Ted Cruz, upcoming Trump administration “border czar” Tom Homan, and comedian Rob Schneider, will also take the stage at AmericaFest. The event aims to energize conservative students and voters while celebrating America.
AmericaFest began on December 19 in Phoenix and will conclude following Trump’s speech on Sunday. The event serves as a platform for conservatives to come together, share ideas, and show their support for the country.
Overall, Trump’s rally in Phoenix is expected to be a significant event, marking his return to the public eye and setting the tone for his future political endeavors. Fox News Digital’s Elizabeth Elkind, Julia Johnson, and Michael Dorgan contributed to the coverage of this event.
