49ers’ Deebo Samuel responds to Terrell Owens criticism: ‘Cut it fam’

Former San Francisco 49ers star Terrell Owens and current wide receiver Deebo Samuel found themselves in a heated exchange this week. Owens, who had an illustrious eight-year career with the Niners, accumulating 8,572 receiving yards, openly questioned Samuel’s commitment on the field.
During a recent appearance on 95.7 The Game in San Francisco, Owens expressed his concerns about Samuel not living up to his potential. “Deebo is not really playing up to Deebo’s standards,” Owens remarked. He went on to suggest that Samuel seemed more focused on his pregame attire than on his performance during games.
Owens playfully jabbed at Samuel’s fashion choices, implying that the wide receiver should shift his focus to on-field production rather than pregame outfits. Samuel is often seen sporting eye-catching ensembles on his way to the locker room, which have garnered attention on social media throughout the season.
In response to Owens’ comments, Samuel took to X, formerly known as Twitter, with a concise message: “T.O cut it fam!!!!” It was a clear indication that Samuel didn’t appreciate Owens’ critique of his game.
From a statistical perspective, Samuel’s 2024 season has been somewhat lackluster. In nine games, he has only managed to amass 490 receiving yards, with just one receiving touchdown and one rushing touchdown to his name. This marks a stark contrast to his standout 2021 season, where he earned First-team All-Pro honors.
On the ground, Samuel’s rushing yards have also seen a decline, with only 79 yards in 2024 compared to his career-best 365 yards in 2021. The 28-year-old will need to step up his game to help the 49ers in their quest for a playoff spot.
Owens, a Pro Football Hall of Famer known for his work ethic and talent, had a reputation for being a hardworking player during his NFL career. However, his time in the league was also marked by controversy and questions about his maturity, both on and off the field.
As the 49ers gear up to face the Green Bay Packers on November 24, they will look to Samuel and the rest of the team to secure a crucial win. It remains to be seen how Samuel will respond to Owens’ comments and whether he can elevate his performance in the coming games.
