Truro police warn about high-risk offender living in the community

Truro Police Issue Warning About High-Risk Offender Living in Nova Scotia Town
Truro police have issued a warning about a high-risk offender who is now residing in the central Nova Scotia town. George Durling, 57, was recently released from prison after serving a two-year sentence for various child pornography charges.
Durling has a history of criminal offenses, including failing to comply with probation orders and making harassing and indecent text messages and phone calls. He was also convicted of sexual assault in Manitoba in 1992, as well as assault and indecent acts in Truro in recent years.
As part of his release conditions, Durling is prohibited from being near anyone under the age of 16 and locations frequented by children, such as schools, playgrounds, and daycares. Halifax Regional Police had previously issued a warning about Durling when he was living in Dartmouth earlier this year.
Truro police have assured the community that they will be conducting regular compliance checks on Durling to ensure he is abiding by his release conditions. They have also cautioned against any vigilante justice and urged residents to report any concerning behavior to the authorities.
It is essential for the safety of the community that everyone remains vigilant and informed about high-risk offenders living in their area. By working together and staying alert, we can help ensure the well-being of all residents in Nova Scotia.
