Two arrested, meth, weapons seized following home search in Annapolis County

NEW ALBANY, N.S. — Police have arrested two men and seized methamphetamine and weapons following a home search in New Albany.

As part of an ongoing investigation, Annapolis District RCMP executed a search warrant at a home on Highway 10 on Sept. 18.

Officers arrested one man at the home and started searching for the second man, who was not found in the residence.

During the search, Mounties seized a loaded shotgun, another firearm, bullets, a conducted energy weapon and what police believe to be methamphetamine.

On Sept. 19, around 11 a.m., the second man turned himself in at the Digby RCMP station.

Troy Vanbuskirk, 19, and Josh Brooks, 34, both of New Albany, are facing charges of possession of a prohibited weapon, three counts of possessing a firearm while prohibited, careless use of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine and breach of a release order.

Vanbuskirk appeared in court and was held in custody to appear in Annapolis Royal provincial court on Sept. 26 at 9:30 a.m.

Brooks also appeared in court and was released on conditions pending his next court appearance on Oct. 31 at 9:30 a.m. in Annapolis Royal provincial court.
